TOPS

TOPS is an indie rock band hailing from Montreal, Canada, known for their dreamy, synth-infused pop sound and airy vocals. The band was formed in 2011 by Jane Penny (vocals and keyboards), David Carriere (guitar), and Riley Fleck (drums), after the dissolution of their former band, Silly Kissers. Madison Bullard joined later on bass and other occasional members. TOPS' music is characterized by its lo-fi aesthetic, blending pop and soft-rock influences with a touch of the DIY ethos that comes from their association with the Arbutus Records label, also home to artists like Grimes.

Over the years, TOPS has created a distinct presence in the indie music scene, with a blend of nostalgic and contemporary sounds that have captured the hearts of fans around the globe. They made a notable entrance with their debut album, "Tender Opposites," in 2012 and have since been refining their sound through an impressive discography which includes 2014's "Picture You Staring," 2017's "Sugar at the Gate," and their 2020 release "I Feel Alive." Their evocative and introspective lyrics, combined with their signature melodic structures, have led to a steady stream of both critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. With releases like "Empty Seats" and "Perfected Steps" marking their recent efforts, TOPS continues to tour and enchant listeners with their charming and evocative indie pop.
