Erik Westberg

Erik Westberg is a renowned Swedish choral conductor and professor. Born in 1956, Westberg studied choral conducting under Eric Ericson at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm from 1976 to 1987. He's led numerous prestigious choirs, including the YMCA Choir in Stockholm and the Oslo Philharmonic Choir, and has been a guest conductor for groups like the Swedish Radio Choir and Pro Coro Canada.

In 1993, Westberg formed the Erik Westberg Vocal Ensemble, a group of 16-20 singers from northern Sweden and Finland. The ensemble has premiered about 60 works by various composers and released multiple well-received albums. Westberg has been recognized with several awards, including the Johannes Norrby-Medallion in 1993 and His Majesty the King's Medal in 2006. Since 2003, he's been a Professor of Choral Conducting and Choral Singing at Luleå University of Technology.
