Franz Anton Hoffmeister was a German composer, conductor, and music publisher who lived from 1754 to 1812. He was a prolific composer, writing over 300 works, including symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and operas. Hoffmeister was also a successful music publisher, and his firm published works by many of the leading composers of his day, including Beethoven, Haydn, and Mozart. He was a close friend and colleague of Mozart, and he conducted the premiere of Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni" in 1787.
