Silvania is a pioneering band in the Latin American Shoegaze and Dream Pop genres. Formed by Peruvian musicians Mario and Cocó, they established themselves in Spain, initially in Valencia and later in Madrid. Their music career began in the late 1980s, and they gained recognition with their debut EP "Miel Nube Hiel" in 1992 and their first full-length album "Un Cielo De Oceano" in 1993. Silvania's sound is characterized by its blend of ambient and electronic elements, often compared to influential bands like Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. Over the years, they have released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Paisaje III" and "Naves Sin Puertos," and have been remixed by notable artists such as Autechre and Scanner. Despite the passing of Cocó in 2008, Mario continues to produce music under the Silvania name, shifting towards more ambient sounds in recent years.
