Franek Kimono

Franek Kimono is a musical persona created by Polish actor Piotr Fronczewski. This character was a parody of the disco style, known for using melodeclamation as a form of vocal expression. Franek Kimono's music falls into genres like electro-disco, disco, synth pop, and comedy rap. His most famous songs include "King Bruce Lee Karate Mistrz" and "Dysk Dżokej," which became hits in the early 1980s. The character was initially active from 1983 to 1984 and briefly revived in 2008. Franek Kimono is often humorously referred to as the "first Polish rapper" or the "godfather of Polish rap" due to his early use of rap-like techniques in his music.

Franek Kimono's music was not only popular in Poland but also appeared in various media, such as the TV series "Tulipan" and the film "Wakacje z Madonną." Despite the initial success, later attempts to revive the character, like the album "Toczy się życie – Powrót Mistrza" released under the name Pan Kimono, did not achieve the same level of acclaim. However, Franek Kimono remains a nostalgic figure in Polish pop culture, celebrated for his unique blend of humor and music.
