The Hollywood Brats were a British glam rock and protopunk band formed in London in 1971, initially known as The Queen before changing their name to avoid confusion with the now-famous Queen. Fronted by singer Andrew Matheson and featuring keyboardist Casino Steel and drummer Lou Sparks, they became known for their flamboyant style, raw rock sound, and provocative performances aimed at shaking up the music scene dominated by softer sounds. Despite their energetic and rebellious approach, which earned them support from figures like Keith Moon, they struggled commercially and were often booed offstage. They recorded an album in 1973, but it was only released posthumously in Norway in 1975 under the title *Grown Up Wrong* after the band dissolved in 1974.
Though they never achieved commercial success during their active years, the Hollywood Brats left an undeniable mark on the early punk movement, inspiring later bands with their attitude and sound. The band members went their separate ways afterward, with Casino Steel joining The Boys and Andrew Matheson pursuing solo work. Matheson also published a well-received memoir, *Sick On You*, which chronicles the band's struggle and legacy. Their music, characterized by snotty lyrics and garage-flavored guitars, has since been recognized as pure rock fun from a band well ahead of their time.
