Raúl Mallavibarrena is a Spanish classical musician, organist, percussionist, and conductor, born in 1970 in Oviedo. He is best known as the founder and director of the early music ensemble Musica Ficta, which he established in 1992. Mallavibarrena has also founded Ensemble Fontegara and the record label Enchiriadis. His work focuses on the revival and performance of Renaissance and Baroque music, with notable contributions including the complete recording of Francisco Guerrero's spiritual villanescas. Mallavibarrena's musical education includes studies in guitar, flute, music theory, and conducting, reflecting his diverse musical talents and interests.
Mallavibarrena's ensemble, Musica Ficta, has released several albums featuring works by prominent composers such as Tomás Luis de Victoria, Francisco Guerrero, and Alonso Lobo.
