Guy Garvey is an English singer, songwriter, and broadcaster best known as the frontman and lyricist for the Manchester band Elbow. With Elbow, he helped steer the group to wide acclaim, including winning the Mercury Prize in 2008 for *The Seldom Seen Kid*, and he’s been a central part of their atmospheric, storytelling brand of alternative rock since the band’s early days.
Outside of Elbow, Garvey has built a parallel career as a radio and TV presenter in the UK—most notably for the BBC—championing new music and interviewing artists in a warm, conversational style. He’s also released solo material and contributed vocals and writing to other projects, often bringing the same reflective, plainspoken lyrical voice that made Elbow’s songs so distinctive.
