Jim Gelcer

Jim Gelcer is a versatile Canadian musician, born in Cape Town, South Africa, who moved to Toronto in 1968. He is a jazz drummer, singer, composer, and producer, celebrated for blending traditional Indian spiritual music known as kirtan with modern styles like R&B, jazz, and rock. After studying at the Eastman School of Music and York University, Gelcer made his mark performing with diverse artists and composing for film and television. His music career spans several decades, and he has released several albums, including his recent work *Quiet Expanse* in 2025.

Jim is recognized for bringing people together musically and has collaborated with a wide range of artists, from Lee Aaron to the Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band. Beyond performing and recording, he has embraced teaching and continues to connect with audiences live and online.
