Vox Clamantis

Vox Clamantis is an illustrious Estonian ensemble renowned for its distinct focus on Gregorian chant, early polyphony, and contemporary music. Fusing these elements, Vox Clamantis creates an ethereal sonic landscape where ancient and modern sounds meet in harmony. Formed by conductor Jaan-Eik Tulve in 1996, the group consists of singers alongside instrumentalists who often join the ensemble to enrich the texture and color of their performances.

The ensemble's discography reflects a profound reverence for sacred music and the works of modern composers who draw inspiration from traditional liturgical motifs. Among their diverse repertoire are pieces by the esteemed Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, whose minimalistic and spiritually charged compositions are a recurring theme in Vox Clamantis' collections. Furthermore, their recent works include interpretations of music by Norwegian composer Henrik Ødegaard and the Estonian composer Cyrillus Kreek, articulating their commitment to exploring the rich tradition of sacred music from the Baltic region, as well as from historical figures like Eleanor of Brittany (Graduel d'Aliénor de Bretagne). Vox Clamantis has not only cemented its place as a leader in performing early music but has also become a vehicle for creating contemporary spiritual soundscapes that resonate with audiences worldwide.
