Woods

Woods is an indie folk/psych folk band hailing from Brooklyn, New York, that has carved a unique niche in the American music scene with its ethereal blend of lo-fi production, folk melodies, and psychedelic elements. The band was formed in 2005 by singer-guitarist Jeremy Earl, known for his distinctive falsetto and earnest lyricism, alongside tape effects technician G. Lucas Crane. Over the years, Woods has evolved, with the lineup stabilizing around Earl, multi-instrumentalist Jarvis Taveniere, and a rotating cast of musicians contributing to their rich, organic sound.

Their music is characterized by an experimental approach, seamlessly incorporating elements of folk, psych rock, and lo-fi, underpinned by Earl's poignant songwriting. With releases such as "Strange to Explain [More Strange (Deluxe Edition)]", "Reflections Vol. 1 (Bumble Bee Crown King)", and "Midnight Moment", Woods continues to push the boundaries of their sound, exploring new textures and themes. The "Five More Flowers EP" and other recent works showcase the band's ongoing evolution, blending introspective lyrics with dreamy, sometimes haunting melodies. Throughout their career, Woods has remained committed to their independent ethos, releasing much of their music through Earl's Woodsist label, fostering a sense of community and DIY spirit in the indie music scene. Their discography is a testament to the band's journey, blending pastoral folk with experimental flair, making Woods a distinctive voice in contemporary American music.
