Fernando De Luca is a renowned Italian harpsichordist, composer, and music pedagogue born in 1961 in Rome. He began his musical journey at a young age, initially studying the organ and piano before focusing on the harpsichord. De Luca graduated from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, earning diplomas in piano (1987) and harpsichord (1992). He has been deeply involved in the study and performance of Baroque music, particularly in the interpretation of historical tunings and repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. De Luca has performed at numerous festivals and concerts across Europe and beyond, including notable performances in Italy, France, and Canada.
De Luca is celebrated for his extensive recordings of harpsichord music, including the complete works of George Frideric Handel and other lesser-known composers like Joseph Nicolas Pancrace Royer. He has also founded the "Sala del Cembalo del Caro Sassone," a platform dedicated to publishing and broadcasting harpsichord music. His recent releases reflect his dedication to preserving and showcasing the rich heritage of harpsichord repertoire, with albums featuring works by Handel, Petzold, Kayser, and other Baroque composers. De Luca currently teaches harpsichord at the Antonio Vivaldi Conservatory of Alessandria, continuing his legacy as both a performer and educator in the field of early music.
