The Iken Scholars is a London-based chamber choir that specializes in performing Renaissance polyphony, particularly focusing on lesser-known works from the period. Established in 2012 by Matthew Dunn, a musician from Manchester who studied at Cambridge, the choir has become known for bringing hidden corners of the Renaissance canon to life through engaging concert programs that explore the stories and historical context behind the music. The ensemble has performed at prestigious venues across London including Cadogan Hall and St Martin in the Fields, and has toured internationally to cities like Nice, Verona, and throughout the Netherlands.
Beyond their concert work, the Iken Scholars have developed an impressive recording project documenting previously unrecorded Renaissance masterpieces. Their recent projects have included major collaborations, such as recording seven previously un-recorded works from the Lambeth Choirbook in partnership with Lambeth Palace. Matthew Dunn, who leads the choir as both its founder and director, is also the Organist and Director of Music at All Saints' Blackheath, bringing his deep scholarly knowledge of medieval and Renaissance polyphony to the ensemble's distinctive artistic vision.
