Alain Goraguer

Alain Goraguer is a venerated French composer, arranger, and pianist, whose career spans several decades and encompasses a broad array of musical styles, though he is particularly renowned for his work in film scores and jazz. Born on August 20, 1931, in Rosny-sous-Bois, Goraguer began his journey in music as a pianist, eventually becoming a much sought-after arranger in the 1950s and 1960s, working with legendary chanteurs such as Serge Gainsbourg, and jazz musicians like Boris Vian.

One of his most acclaimed contributions to the world of music is the soundtrack for the cult classic animated film "La Planète Sauvage" (The Savage Planet), released in 1973. The soundtrack, known for its haunting, avant-garde arrangements, has cemented Goraguer's status as a pioneering figure in the fusion of jazz, electronic, and classical music elements. Over the years, he has delved into various genres, crafting original scores for movies like "Le Bel Age" and "Paris Secret," and contributing to albums such as "Les joyeux bouchers" and "Strip-Rock / Fais-Moi Mal Johnny". His work has not only left an indelible mark on French cinema and popular music but has also found a new audience in the sampling era, being rediscovered by contemporary producers and DJs influenced by his innovative soundscapes.
