Wet Hair

**Wet Hair** was a lo-fi experimental duo from Iowa City, active in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Comprised of Shawn Reed (also known for his work in **Raccoo-oo-oon**) and Ryan Garbes, the pair carved out a niche with their hazy, psychedelic soundscapes that blended primitive synth textures, hypnotic drum machines, and Reed’s distorted, mantra-like vocals. Emerging from the DIY cassette culture boom, they released music on labels like **Not Not Fun** and **De Stijl**, earning a cult following for albums like *Dream / Glass Fountain* (2009) and *In Vogue Spirit* (2010). Their work often felt like a surreal collision of noise, pop, and drone, delivered with a playful, off-kilter energy. Though the project dissolved around 2013, Wet Hair’s trippy, home-recorded ethos left a mark on the underground experimental scene. Their later releases, including *Spill Into Atmosphere* (2012) and the *Split With Naked On The Vague EP* (2011), continued to push their signature blend of chaotic charm and analog mystique.
