Cordevento is a dynamic ensemble co-founded in 2005 by recorder virtuoso Erik Bosgraaf, guitarist Izhar Elias, and harpsichordist Alessandro Pianu. The group started as a trio specializing in baroque repertoire, especially music from the 17th century and earlier, before expanding into a flexible baroque band that also tackles larger-scale 18th-century works. Their performances are known for historical authenticity, often using period instruments, and their discography showcases a passion for both well-loved and lesser-known baroque concertos and chamber works, especially those featuring the recorder, guitar, and harpsichord.
The ensemble has built a reputation for adventurous programming and fresh interpretations, performing at major festivals in cities like Berlin, Utrecht, Barcelona, Madrid, Saint Petersburg, and Hong Kong. Recently, Cordevento has released acclaimed albums focusing on chamber music by Telemann, Bach, and Vivaldi, along with innovative projects like "Adriana: Her Portrait, Her Life, Her Music," further cementing their status as leading interpreters of baroque and early music.
