Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock band formed in 1987 in Santa Monica, California, known for their ethereal, dreamy sound that melds elements of psychedelia, folk, and blues. The core members of the band are vocalist Hope Sandoval and guitarist David Roback, the latter having passed away in 2020. The band's music is characterized by Sandoval's haunting vocal style and Roback's shimmering guitar textures, enveloping listeners in a gossamer-like auditory haze.

The band's breakthrough came with their sophomore album, "So Tonight That I Might See" (1993), which featured the hit single "Fade into You"—a song that remains emblematic of the band's soundscape and 1990s alternative rock. Despite going on hiatus in the late 1990s after the release of "Among My Swan" (1996), Mazzy Star remained a cult favorite. They resurfaced in 2013 with their fourth album, "Seasons of Your Day", which was followed by the "Still EP" in 2018. The delicately sparse tune "Quiet, The Winter Harbor" from this EP continued to exhibit the band's signature style of atmospheric music that invites introspection and emotional reflection.
