Francesco Fanna is a notable figure in the world of classical music, particularly associated with the works of Antonio Vivaldi. He serves as the director of the Italian Antonio Vivaldi Institute in Venice, a position he has held since 1997. The institute was founded by his father, Antonio Fanna, in 1947. Francesco Fanna has a strong background in music, having studied violin with Antonio Carmignola and at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan with Paolo Borciani. He also studied composition with Franco Donatoni and has conducted orchestras in several countries, including Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Argentina, Mexico, South Korea, and Japan.
Fanna's contributions to Vivaldi's music include the historically first recording of Vivaldi's opera *La Griselda* and the psalm *Beatus vir RV 795*. His work often focuses on vocal-instrumental pieces by Vivaldi. Additionally, he has been involved in projects like the *Drammaturgia Musicale Veneta*, a series of facsimile editions of opera manuscripts from the 17th to 18th centuries, published in collaboration with Casa Ricordi and the University of Venice. As a conductor and scholar, Francesco Fanna continues to play a significant role in promoting and interpreting the music of Antonio Vivaldi and other Venetian composers.
