Cocco
Cocco is a fiercely independent Japanese singer-songwriter from Okinawa who’s been captivating audiences since her raw, emotionally charged debut in 1997. Known for her haunting vocals and poetic lyrics, she blends rock, folk, and Okinawan musical traditions into a sound that’s as introspective as it is powerful. After taking a hiatus in 2011 to focus on art and activism (she’s a passionate advocate for environmental and social causes), she made a triumphant return to music, proving her creative fire never dimmed. Recent releases like *UTAHAI* and *Hikari Afure* showcase her signature blend of vulnerability and strength, while her *25th Anniversary Best Tour* in 2022-2023 celebrated her enduring legacy as an artist unafraid to bare her soul. Whether she’s singing about love, loss, or the lush landscapes of her Okinawan roots, Cocco’s music feels like a heartfelt conversation with a close friend.
