Hunny (stylized as HUNNY) is an American indie rock band that originated in Newbury Park, California, in 2014. The band was formed by childhood friends Jason Yarger (vocals and guitar), Jake Goldstein (guitar), Kevin Grimmett (bass and keyboard), and Joey Anderson (drums), who grew up sharing their passion for music within the close-knit North LA indie-rock scene. Known for their shimmering blend of new-wave, shoegaze, and angular guitar rock tinged with California cool vibes, HUNNY captured attention with early releases like their 2015 EP *Pain / Ache / Loving*, featuring the breakout hit “Cry For Me.” Their sound, often described by Yarger as "sadwave," combines heartfelt lyrics centered on love, heartbreak, and personal experience with catchy, danceable tunes.
After self-releasing their first singles and EPs, they signed with Epitaph Records in 2018, which led to the production of their 2019 full-length album *Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.*, produced by Grammy-winner Carlos de la Garza. The album and its polished production helped the band reach a wider audience, touring globally with acts like State Champs and Citizen. Despite lineup changes over the years, HUNNY has stayed true to their indie-rock roots, continually evolving while maintaining the authentic and emotive qualities that drew fans from the start.
