Masahiko Togashi

Masahiko Togashi was a Japanese jazz drummer and composer known for his innovative approach to music. Born on March 22, 1940, in Tokyo, Japan, Togashi began his career in the early 1960s and quickly became a prominent figure in the Japanese jazz scene. Despite losing a leg in a traffic accident in 1970, he continued to perform and record, using his disability to inspire unique drumming techniques. Togashi's work often blended traditional Japanese elements with modern jazz, earning him international recognition. He collaborated with numerous artists across genres and was a key figure in the development of free jazz in Japan until his passing on August 22, 2007.
