hozan canê

Hozan Canê is a renowned German-Kurdish singer born in 1971 in Karayazı, Erzurum province, Turkey. She was born Saide Inac and grew up listening to Kurdish radio broadcasts from Yerevan, which influenced her early musical tastes, particularly through singers like Ayşe Şan and Meryem Xan. Canê studied singing at the Arif Sag music school under Ferqîn Şiyar and Kazim Bora. Her career has been marked by both artistic achievements and political challenges. She faced repression in Turkey during the 1980s and 1990s, leading to her imprisonment and eventual exile to Germany, where she continued her musical career and collaborated with the Academy of Kurdish Culture and Arts.

Canê has released several notable albums, including *Hozanê Kurdî*, *Eşqa Welat*, *Wezîrê Min*, *Dîlana Dila*, and *Vegere*. Her music often reflects her cultural heritage and political activism. In recent years, she has been involved in political activism, criticizing the Turkish government's actions against Kurdish leaders and facing legal challenges herself. Despite these challenges, Canê remains a significant figure in Kurdish music and culture. Her recent releases include *Şimik Zere*, *Xanim Ani*, and *Vegere*, showcasing her enduring contribution to the genre.
