Shahram Nazeri

Shahram Nazeri, a towering figure in Persian classical music, is recognized for his resonant voice and innovative contributions to the field. Born in Kermanshah, Iran, in 1950, Nazeri has infused traditional Kurdish and Persian musical styles with contemporary sensibilities, making him a well-respected and pioneering artist in his genre. Dubbed as the "Pavarotti of Iran" by The Christian Science Monitor, his work often intertwines the rich poetry of Persian luminaries, such as Rumi and Hafez, with classical Persian musical forms.

Nazeri’s discography is a testament to his devotion to cultural expression and his mastery of the setar, a traditional Persian stringed instrument. With numerous albums and collaborations throughout his illustrious career, his contributions to music reflect his deep-rooted love for Iran's poetic and musical heritage. Nazeri was the first to set Rumi's poetry to Persian music thirty-five years ago, which initiated a new trend in Iranian music. His most recent releases, such as "Shahidane Khodaei" and "Melancholia," continue to follow his legacy of blending classical technique with spiritual and emotional depth, allowing audiences around the world to resonate with the universal themes embedded within his artistry.
