Oliver Klaus

Oliver Klaus is a psychedelic rock band from the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. The band was formed in 1967 by brothers Maurice and Bryan Singfield, along with Graham Worden on bass, though Jerry Cushen soon took over the bass role. Inspired by The Beatles, they began playing music in high school and eventually formed Oliver Klaus, named after Maurice's middle name. The band self-produced and released their debut album in 1969, featuring original songs on the A-side and live recordings from the Waterloo Arena on the B-side. Over the years, they have released several singles and albums, including "Homeless" in 1996. Oliver Klaus is considered one of the early "indie bands" due to their self-produced music and independent releases.

The band's early years were marked by performances at community centers and high schools in Quebec. They later expanded their sound with additional musicians, including Michael Hollenbeck on bass and Earle Jones on acoustic guitar. This evolution helped them maintain a contemporary rock sound throughout the 1970s. Despite their local success, Oliver Klaus remains a lesser-known but significant part of Canadian psychedelic rock history.
