Highspire
Highspire is a shoegaze and dream pop band that originated in Philadelphia around 1999, founded by Alex White and EJ Hagen who wanted a fresh start from their previous band, Intro to India. Their sound blends shoegaze, Britpop, and trip hop influences, drawing comparisons to bands like Ride, Slowdive, and Massive Attack. They released their debut album *Your Everything* in 2003/2004 to critical acclaim, followed by *Aquatic* in 2010 on their own label. The duo is also known for releasing rarities and unreleased tracks in collections such as *Sleight of Hand for the Down and Out – Rarities & Unreleased 1999-2011* and continues to contribute to the shoegaze scene with new material, including a recent album in 2025. Both Alex and EJ have also played with the Australian band The Morning After Girls, helping to maintain their presence in the indie and dream pop community.
