Jimmy Greene is a Grammy-nominated jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator known for his deeply emotional and spiritually infused music. A native of Connecticut, Greene has released several critically acclaimed albums as a bandleader, including Beautiful Life and While Looking Up. His work often blends elements of gospel, post-bop, and contemporary jazz, showcasing both his technical virtuosity and heartfelt improvisation.
One of Greene's most profoundly personal projects, Beautiful Life, was created in tribute to his daughter, Ana Grace Márquez-Greene, who was one of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in 2012. The album was widely praised for its emotional depth and healing message, earning multiple Grammy nominations. In addition to his solo work, Greene is also a dedicated music educator, serving on the faculty at Western Connecticut State University and contributing to the development of the next generation of jazz musicians.
