Jerusalem in My Heart

Jerusalem In My Heart (JIHM) is an enthralling and experimental musical and visual project spearheaded by Lebanese-Canadian musician and producer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh. Established in Montreal in 2005, JIHM has become known for their melding of traditional Arabic music with modern electronic influences. The project's auditory ethos is deeply rooted in Moumneh's cultural heritage, often weaving in melismatic vocals and the buzuk (a long-necked fretted lute), within a tapestry of avant-garde soundscapes and textures.

However, Jerusalem In My Heart goes beyond music; it is an immersive multimedia experience, with live performances that feature film projections and light installations created by Charles-André Coderre, making each show a unique, site-specific event. Over the years, the project has released a thought-provoking discography which includes albums like "Qalaq," "Daqa'iq Tudaiq," and "Mo7it Al-Mo7it." Collaborative works also adorn their repertoire, notably their joint album with Canadian band Suuns. Jerusalem In My Heart's works reflect on the contemporary socio-political landscape of the Arab world, often capturing the emotional complexity and historical depth of the region's issues. With a critically acclaimed body of work, JIHM continues to challenge and inspire a global audience through their innovative fusion of sight and sound.
