Ffa Coffi Pawb was a Welsh alternative rock band that made notable contributions to the Welsh music scene during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Formed in the town of Bethesda, North Wales, the band's name is a Welsh language pun which translates to "everyone's coffee beans," but also phonetically resembles the English profanity "fuck off everyone." The band consisted of members Gruff Rhys (who would later become the lead vocalist for the Welsh band Super Furry Animals), guitarist Dewi Emlyn, bassist Rhodri Puw, and drummer Dafydd Ieuan.
Ffa Coffi Pawb's music was characterized by its psychedelic rock influence and use of the Welsh language, which helped carve a path for future Welsh-language artists. Although they never achieved major commercial success, their impact was felt in the Welsh music community, and they garnered a cult following. Their most recent releases, such as "Hei Vidal!" and "Am Byth," showcase their stylistic range and creativity. The release of "Ffarout" continued to cement their reputation for blending catchy melodies with off-kilter songwriting. "Colli'r Goriad," among other tracks, underlined the band's penchant for fusing a grunge-like sound with distinctly Welsh lyrical themes. Despite disbanding in the early '90s, Ffa Coffi Pawb's influence persisted, and their work gained retrospective acclaim with the re-release of their catalog in the form of compilations such as "Am Byth," which brought together the band's key tracks, serving both as an epitaph and a testament to their influence on Welsh music.
