Friederike Kienle

Friederike Kienle is a German conductor and cellist known for her dynamic career in both symphonic and operatic music. Born in Stuttgart, she spent over a decade in Japan, where she founded the Young Hokkaido Philharmony and conducted a complete Beethoven symphony cycle. She holds a master's degree in orchestra conducting from the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, studying under Prof. Rasmus Baumann. Kienle has conducted major German orchestras like the Stuttgart Philharmonic and the Munich Symphony Orchestra, as well as international ensembles in Bulgaria, Japan, and the USA. She is also the founder of Ensemble Balance, a chamber group noted for innovative projects such as the chamber arrangement of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 and a strong emphasis on diversity and contemporary music. Kienle is highly committed to music education and actively promotes works by underrepresented composers.

In addition to conducting, Friederike is an accomplished cellist recognized for her artistic depth and curiosity. Her recent projects include recordings of Paul Ben-Haim's music for cello and collaborations with other prominent musicians and orchestras. She blends artistic innovation with advocacy for inclusion through her concert series and programming, making classical music accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
