La Cherga is a collective of cross-border musicians united by frontman Nevenko Bucan, an ex-Yugoslavian who later settled in Austria. The band's name, inspired by a type of Balkan rug that represents a mélange of colors and patterns, reflects the diverse influences and backgrounds of its members. The group’s members hailing from various parts of the Balkans, including Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Bosnia, bring together a rich tapestry of cultural and musical heritages.
