Insomnium

Insomnium is a Finnish melodic death metal band renowned for their somber and poetic approach to the genre. Formed in 1997 in the town of Joensuu, the band consists of Niilo Sevänen on vocals and bass, Markus Vanhala on guitars, Jani Liimatainen on guitars and vocals, and Markus Hirvonen on drums. Insomniium's sound is characterized by melancholic melodies, profound lyrics, and a blending of aggressive death metal with tranquil, atmospheric elements—a style that has earned them a dedicated following within the metal community.

Over the years, Insomnium has released a number of well-received albums that have cemented their status in the metal world. Their most recent works, including "Songs Of The Dusk - EP," and full-length album "Heart Like a Grave," showcase a band that continues to refine their artistry and musical complexity. Standout releases like "Anno 1696" and "White Christ," which features Sakis Tolis from the legendary Greek black metal band Rotting Christ, demonstrate their ability to collaborate and explore new dimensions in their music. With a career spanning more than two decades, Insomnium remains a powerful force in the metal scene, consistently delivering introspective and emotive metal that resonates with fans worldwide. Their ambitious single-track concept album "Winter's Gate," released in 2016, is a testament to their narrative storytelling and musical ambition, earning them acclaim from critics and audiences alike.
