Faith And The Muse

Faith and The Muse, an American gothic rock/darkwave duo, was formed in 1993 by Monica Richards (vocals, instruments) and William Faith (guitar, bass, also providing vocals). The band made an immediate impact on the gothic music scene with their debut album "Elyria" in 1994, weaving a lush tapestry of darkwave, gothic rock, folk, and ambient influences. Their ornate musical and visual style drew heavily on mythological and literary themes, setting them apart from their contemporaries.

Over the years, Faith and The Muse have explored and expanded their sound across several critically acclaimed albums. Titles like "Annwyn, Beneath the Waves" (1996), "Evidence of Heaven" (1999), and "The Burning Season" (2003) showcase the duo's evolution, integrating more electronic and neoclassical elements into their work. Their commitment to artistic growth and exploration continued with albums such as "Vera Causa" (2001), a collection of live and rare tracks, and "Ankoku Butoh" (2009), which paired with a book of photography to create a multimedia experience. The duo's last known release "Shoumei" (2009), an audio and visual project, highlighted their continuous experimentation and contribution to the darkwave and gothic music landscape. Faith and The Muse's body of work remains a testament to their innovation, depth, and enduring appeal in the genre.
