Hatari

Hatari is an Icelandic techno and punk rock band known for their distinctive style, which marries aggressive industrial beats with an anti-capitalist ethos, reflected through performance art and scathing social commentary. Formed in Reykjavík in 2015, the band consists of core members Klemens Hannigan, Matthías Tryggvi Haraldsson, and Einar Stefánsson, though their performances often involve a larger ensemble for dramatic live shows. Characterized by their BDSM-influenced fashion, dystopian aesthetics, and thought-provoking lyrics, Hatari has captured the attention of international audiences.

Not merely content with music production, Hatari has presented a confrontational image, challenging societal norms and the status quo. The band saw a substantial rise in fame after their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, where they represented Iceland with the song "Hatrið mun sigra," raising controversy with their political statements during the event. Since then, they have continued to expand their discography with releases like "Neysluvara - EP," "Klefi / صامد," and "Dansið Eða Deyið," pushing boundaries both musically and in their stage performances. With "Neyslutrans" and its companion piece "Neyslutrans Remixed," Hatari has continued to explore themes of consumerism and control through an electrifying combination of music and activism.
