Lush was a prominent British alternative rock band that was part of the early 1990s shoegaze scene, uniquely fusing dream pop richness with indie rock energy. The group was formed in London in 1988 by friends Emma Anderson (guitar, vocals), Miki Berenyi (guitar, vocals), Steve Rippon (bass), and Chris Acland (drums). Their ethereal sound was marked by heavenly vocal harmonies and intricate, effects-laden guitar lines that created a blissful wall of sound.
The band's discography captures their evolution from their early shoegaze beginnings to incorporating more Britpop elements. They released several acclaimed records, including "Spooky" (1992), "Split" (1994), and "Lovelife" (1996), the latter being their most commercially successful, buoyed by hits such as "Ladykillers". Tragedy struck the band when drummer Chris Acland sadly took his own life in 1996, leading to the band's dissolution the following year. Briefly reforming in 2015 for a series of gigs, they released the EP "Blind Spot" in 2016, a reminder of the band's emotive lyrical content and sonic beauty. Lush's legacy continues with the remastered releases of their seminal works, allowing both old fans and new listeners to experience the lush soundscapes that this band expertly crafted.
