Fito Olivares y Su Grupo

Fito Olivares y Su Grupo is a vibrant musical ensemble spearheaded by its namesake Rodolfo "Fito" Olivares, a consummate musician and composer hailing from Ciudad Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Born on April 19, 1947, Olivares' passion for music was evident from a young age, and his journey into the world of music began in earnest when he and his brothers is established the Olivares Brothers group in 1967. However, it wasn't until 1980 that Fito Olivares y Su Grupo was formally founded, marking the beginning of a new era for Olivares' musical career.

Infusing the traditional cumbia with elements of other genres such as salsa and merengue, Fito Olivares y Su Grupo gained fame for their distinctive, dance-inducing sound. Their music quickly resonated with audiences, leading to a series of hit songs that have become staples at parties and celebratory gatherings. Among their most renowned tunes are the infectious rhythms of "Juana la Cubana," "La Gallina" and "El Colesterol," all of which show off baritone saxophone melodies that have become Olivares' signature. Throughout the years, the group has released numerous albums showcasing their dynamic blend of cumbias and Latin beats, as evident in compilations like "30 Exitos Inolvidables" and lively live recordings such as "Fito Olivares y Su Grupo (En Vivo)." Their enduring appeal is a testament to their influence and longevity within the Latin music scene.
