Thomas Bangalter is internationally recognized as one half of the influential French house duo Daft Punk, whose groundbreaking approach to electronic music has left an indelible mark on the genre. Born on January 3, 1975, in Paris, France, Bangalter’s foray into music began early, influenced by his father, Daniel Vangarde, a famous songwriter and producer. Alongside his schoolmate Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, Bangalter formed Daft Punk in 1993, and the visionary pair quickly became synonymous with the rise of the French house movement, cultivating an enigmatic presence with their iconic robot personas.
Post-Daft Punk split in February 2021, Bangalter has continued his creative exploration within the music world. While he is well-known for his work in electronic music, his artistic capabilities span a broader range, embracing classical compositions and film scores. The release of "Mythologies" in April 2022 – his first major solo orchestral work – showcases this diversity, with the ballet score written for the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj and performed by the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine. This composition, including pieces such as “XVIII. Pas de Deux,” “XIII. Le Minotaure,” and “L’Accouchement,” signifies Bangalter’s dynamic range and his capacity to craft complex, evocative sonic landscapes that transcend his electronic roots.
