Johnny Thunders

Johnny Thunders was a legendary figure in the punk and glam rock scenes, known for his raw guitar style and rebellious attitude. He first rose to fame in the early 1970s as the lead guitarist for the New York Dolls, a band that helped lay the groundwork for punk rock with their edgy sound and flamboyant aesthetic. After the Dolls disbanded, Thunders went on to form The Heartbreakers, whose 1977 debut album L.A.M.F. became a cult classic—especially influential in the UK punk scene.

Beyond his band work, Thunders also released solo material, with "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory" becoming one of his most iconic songs. Despite ongoing struggles with addiction throughout much of his career, he remained a beloved and influential figure in rock music, known for his emotionally charged performances and defiant spirit. His legacy continues to inspire punk and rock musicians around the world.
