Pink Anderson was a blues and folk musician from South Carolina, best known for his warm, down-home style that blended Piedmont blues with traditional folk storytelling. Born in 1900, he got his start performing with traveling medicine shows in the Carolinas, which influenced his relaxed, conversational singing style. Anderson played guitar and sang a mix of blues, ragtime, and hokum, and his recordings from the 1950s and '60s helped preserve the rich traditions of early Southern acoustic blues.
He gained renewed recognition during the blues revival of the 1960s, when folklorists and music enthusiasts recorded his performances, capturing his unique blend of storytelling and musical talent. One of Anderson's albums, Carolina Blues Man, became a standout example of the Piedmont blues style. Fun fact: his name partly inspired the name of the legendary rock band Pink Floyd.
