Reza Vali

Reza Vali is an Iranian-American composer known for blending Persian traditional music with Western classical forms, creating a rich and unique sonic language. Born in Iran, Vali studied composition at the Tehran Conservatory before continuing his education in Austria and the United States. His works often draw on Persian folk melodies and modes, reimagined through contemporary classical techniques, and have been performed by major ensembles around the world.

Over the years, Vali has composed an impressive body of work, including chamber music, orchestral pieces, and his acclaimed "Folk Songs" series. His music is deeply emotional and expressive, often exploring themes of longing, identity, and cultural heritage. In addition to being a prolific composer, Vali is also a dedicated educator, serving as a professor of composition at Carnegie Mellon University.
