Chief Broom is a band from Boise, Idaho, formed by brothers Shadrach and TJ Tuck, who initially started the group in high school. However, the band's journey paused as they focused on another project, Sly Moon Sutra. The band truly took shape when Will 'Cheese' Cheeseman joined the Tuck brothers. Tragically, TJ Tuck passed away at the age of 22 due to a fentanyl overdose. The remaining members, including Frankie Tillo, continued to honor TJ's legacy and vision. Their debut album, "hidden in plain sight," serves as a tribute to TJ and features his drumming and creative input throughout the tracks. The album explores themes of coming of age, brotherhood, addiction, and recovery, showcasing the band's distinctive alternative rock sound.
The album was produced by their father, Terre Tuck, at their childhood home in Star, Idaho, and refined by Sonny DiPerri and Adam Gonalves. It was released via Mishap Records on September 29, 2023, coinciding with TJ Tuck's birthday. The band's music is characterized by its heavy, brooding yet uplifting qualities, reflecting on the complexities of everyday life.
