John Medeski

John Medeski is an innovative and versatile American musician renowned for his virtuosic command of the keyboard, particularly the piano, organ, and synthesizer. Born on June 28, 1965, in Louisville, Kentucky, Medeski developed an early passion for music, gravitating towards the piano from a young age. He honed his skills at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for a wide array of musical genres, from classical to jazz and beyond. This eclectic taste has defined his career, allowing him to seamlessly move between and blend different music styles.

Medeski is best known as a founding member of the critically acclaimed groove-based jazz trio Medeski Martin & Wood (MMW), along with bassist Chris Wood and drummer Billy Martin. The trio's innovative fusion of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and electronic music catapulted them to fame in the 1990s and established them as pioneers in the jam band scene. Beyond his work with MMW, John Medeski has an extensive discography that includes solo projects and collaborations with a diverse array of artists. His most recent releases, such as "The Curse," "Crawlspace," "History Gets Ahead of the Story," and "Mad Skillet," showcase his continuous evolution as an artist, experimenting with soundscapes and delving into new musical territories. Medeski's ability to bridge gaps between genres has not only made him a beloved figure among musicians and jazz aficionados but also cemented his status as a trailblazer in the contemporary music landscape.
