Sex Mob
Sex Mob is a New York–based jazz quartet known for turning pop culture on its head with loud, witty, genre-hopping arrangements and a seriously high-energy live feel. The group is led by slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein and has been a long-running, core-band lineup featuring Briggan Krauss on saxes, Tony Scherr on bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums.
They’ve built a reputation on playful, inventive reinterpretations—especially on projects like *Sex Mob Does Bond*, which reworks classic James Bond themes through their downtown-jazz lens—alongside plenty of original material that mixes funk, free jazz, and street-level groove. Over the years, Sex Mob has also teamed up with other adventurous artists (including a live collaboration with Medeski), keeping their sound rooted in jazz improvisation while never taking the “rules” too seriously.
