Tessie Overmyer is a highly regarded Australian alto saxophonist, composer, and bandleader known for her dynamic presence in the jazz scene. Originally from Newcastle, she studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before moving to New York City to pursue a Master of Music at the Manhattan School of Music. Tessie has quickly gained recognition for her mature and expressive playing style, performing alongside notable artists like Mike Nock and Sandy Evans and appearing at major jazz festivals such as Wangaratta, Sydney Conservatorium International Jazz Festival, and Newport Jazz Festival.
Her debut album, *Tidelines*, captures a pivotal moment just before her move to New York, showcasing her original compositions with a core band and special guests. The album reflects her deep love of melody and folk influences, delivering a rich mix of swinging energy and intimate textures. Tessie has been celebrated for her improvisational skill and has been nominated as one of the youngest musicians for the Freedman Jazz Fellowship, marking her as one of the most exciting new voices in contemporary jazz.
