Folk Jazz

Folk jazz is a genre blending the melodic traditions and storytelling elements of folk music with the improvisational nature of jazz. It often features acoustic instrumentation, including guitar, double bass, violin, and woodwinds, creating a warm, organic sound. Rooted in diverse folk traditions, the style incorporates modal harmonies, fluid rhythms, and lyrical phrasing, sometimes evoking pastoral or atmospheric moods. While some artists lean into traditional folk song structures with jazz harmonies, others embrace the free-flowing nature of jazz with folk-inspired melodies, creating a rich, expressive fusion.
