Phil Manzanera
Phil Manzanera is a British guitarist and producer best known as the lead guitarist for the influential art rock band Roxy Music. Born in London in 1951, Manzanera became a central figure in the glam and progressive rock scenes of the 1970s and beyond. His shimmering guitar style helped define Roxy Music’s sound on classic albums like For Your Pleasure, Stranded, and Avalon, blending experimental textures with pop sensibilities.
Beyond Roxy Music, Phil has had a prolific solo career and has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, with whom he worked on the albums On an Island and Rattle That Lock. He’s also been an in-demand producer, lending his talents to acts like Split Enz and John Cale. Known for his adventurous spirit and genre-blurring work, Manzanera remains an enduring figure in the world of rock and experimental music.
