Slaughter & The Dogs

Slaughter & The Dogs are one of the pioneering punk bands to emerge from the UK’s gritty mid-'70s Manchester scene. Formed in 1975, they were among the first punk acts in the region, often sharing bills with bands like the Sex Pistols and Buzzcocks. Their raw, streetwise energy and glam-infused punk sound helped bridge the gap between classic glam rock influences and the fast-rising punk movement. Their 1977 debut single, “Cranked Up Really High,” is widely regarded as one of the earliest and most iconic examples of British punk.

The band’s debut album, Do It Dog Style, released in 1978, became a favorite in punk circles, combining aggressive riffs with anthemic choruses that captured the spirit of rebellion of the era. Despite lineup changes and a shifting music scene, Slaughter & The Dogs have maintained a strong cult following and continued to release new music and perform live into the 21st century.
