Future Orchestra Classics (FOC) is a dynamic orchestra founded in 2019 by the renowned Japanese composer and conductor Joe Hisaishi. The project was created as part of Hisaishi's mission to bring classical music to new and diverse audiences by combining his contemporary compositional perspective with traditional orchestral repertoire. FOC gained attention by performing classical masterpieces such as Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 5 and 7 with fresh interpretations, and then moving on to a series featuring Brahms’ complete symphonies. Known for vivid and expressive performances, this orchestra also premiered works like Hisaishi’s own vocal-orchestral suite "The End of the World" and performed significant contemporary pieces such as Steve Reich’s "The Desert Music." Hisaishi’s leadership as conductor and composer brings a unique, innovative flair to FOC’s concerts, appealing to both classical music enthusiasts and younger audiences alike.
FOC’s recent releases include major symphonic works like Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony No. 7 and Brahms' complete symphonies, showcasing their versatility and deep engagement with the classical canon. The orchestra often collaborates with notable soloists and choirs, such as soprano Ella Taylor and The Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo, further enriching their performances. This blend of classical tradition and contemporary creativity positions Future Orchestra Classics as an exciting and progressive force in the orchestral world under Joe Hisaishi’s visionary guidance.
