Fletcher Tucker is an interdisciplinary musician, artist, and writer based in Big Sur, California, known for his deeply animistic and earth-reverent approach to music. Since 2005, he has released numerous albums under his name and other projects, such as Bird By Snow, releasing experimental and folk music through his own label, Gnome Life Records. His recent works explore themes of connection to place, ancestors, and ceremony, using organic instruments like Swedish bagpipes, pump organ, and flutes to create rich, textured soundscapes. Tucker's 2025 album "Kin," featuring collaborations with artists like Phil Elverum, continues his exploration of spiritual and natural worlds through enchanting, poetic songs.
Besides music, Fletcher is also a wilderness educator and co-founder of Wildtender, an organization focused on cultivating intimacy with the earth and reciprocal relationships with nature. He teaches at institutions such as the Esalen Institute and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, blending his artistic practice with earth-based philosophy and ceremony. His work has garnered critical acclaim for its haunting, meditative qualities and its unique fusion of ancient influences with modern experimental folk.
