Lions of Dissent

Lions of Dissent is a music and art collective founded by Tim Baker in Wolverhampton in 2015. Initially conceived as a solo project, it evolved into a 10-piece collective within two years, though it has since downsized to a core group of five members. The collective began as an abstract art project but transitioned into a sonic and visual entity. Tim Baker emphasizes the importance of maintaining a DIY ethos, drawing inspiration from influential figures like Factory Records. Musically, Lions of Dissent draw from a wide range of influences, including The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, Oasis, and contemporary artists like Anton Newcombe and Jason Pierce. Their recent releases reflect a dynamic and evolving sound, with tracks like "Turn Up The Struggle" showcasing their energetic and propulsive style.

The collective's creative process is deeply rooted in collaboration and visual expression, with a strong emphasis on the freedom to express themselves authentically. This approach has led to notable moments, such as being appreciated by Lee Scratch Perry and selling out headline gigs in different cities. Despite challenges, Lions of Dissent continue to push forward, driven by the belief that their best work is yet to come. Their music is characterized by its raw, live-recorded energy, reflecting the soul of the band in a way that feels both pure and honest.
