Päfgens is a musical project formed in 2013 by Slovak couple Jana Drábeková Kočišová and Filip Drábek. Initially, they began as a lo-fi shoegaze duo, but over time, they have evolved towards creating immersive soundscapes. Their music often features layered guitar and bass loops, resulting in ethereal drones with a shoegaze feel and subtle melodies. Before moving abroad to Warsaw and eventually Berlin, they were active in the Slovak music scene, associated with the label Exitab and bands like The Ills. Their recent work includes albums like "Der Regen," released in 2022 by the German label Econore. Päfgens blend slowcore songs with semi-improvised drones, creating an atmospheric and hissy sound that merges two seemingly disparate sonic worlds.
Their recent releases include titles such as "Aspect Of What," "Der Regen," "Arthrolyse," and "Der Verpasste Zug Nach Berlin," showcasing their evolving soundscapes. Despite their origins in the Slovak music scene, Päfgens have developed a unique style that blends dreamy textures with experimental elements.
